In a sweeping move to reshape key institutions, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has carried out a second round of dismissals targeting directors-general aligned with Ousmane Sonko’s agenda. The reshuffle, announced this Wednesday, underscores the administration’s commitment to consolidating its authority across critical sectors.
High-profile replacements in strategic roles
The most notable change involves the dismissal of Waly Diouf Bodiang, who headed the Port autonome de Dakar. A prominent figure within Pastef, Bodiang’s exit paves the way for Doune Pathé Mbengue, a former activist of the Apr to take the helm. This shift signals a broader realignment within the port’s leadership.
Another key figure removed from his post is Babo Amadou Ba, national coordinator of Pastef’s cadres and director-general of the Fonds de financement de la formation professionnelle et technique (3FPT). He is succeeded by Soulèye Kane, marking a transition in the agency responsible for vocational training funding.
Regional and sectoral adjustments
Lamine Barra Lô, a Pastef representative in Touba, has also been relieved of his duties as director-general of the Office national de la formation professionnelle (ONFP). His replacement, Mame Awa Ndoye, brings a new perspective to the national vocational training office.
Meanwhile, Karamba Diallo has been appointed to lead the SEN-Pharmacie nationale d’approvisionnement, succeeding Seydou Diallo, a Sonko ally and Pastef member based in Keur Massar. This appointment reflects the government’s focus on streamlining pharmaceutical supply chains under its control.
