On Wednesday, Romuald Wadagni, President of the Republic of Benin, arrived in Lomé for a high-level working visit, marking a new milestone in the deepening friendship and cooperation between Benin and Togo.

The Beninese Head of State was greeted at the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport by Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Togolese Council, initiating a series of key discussions on shared priorities. These conversations will focus on regional development, economic integration, and cross-border stability—critical pillars for West Africa’s future.

The visit follows President Wadagni’s ongoing regional tour since his inauguration on May 24, reinforcing Lomé’s reputation as a pivotal diplomatic hub in West Africa. A formal reception awaited him at the airport, attended by top officials, including government ministers, lawmakers, and traditional leaders from across the Grand Lomé area.

Beyond the ceremonial welcome, the meeting underscores the two nations’ shared commitment to strengthening collaboration in vital sectors such as trade, infrastructure, security, energy, and the free movement of people and goods. With deep historical ties and aligned national interests, Benin and Togo are reinforcing their partnership to drive mutual growth and regional cohesion.

Two neighboring nations, two united peoples—strengthening dialogue at the highest level.
