Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko to Address National Assembly in Quarterly Accountability Session
Dakar – Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet members will appear before the National Assembly today for a scheduled quarterly accountability session, a constitutional requirement under Article 104 of the Assembly’s rules of procedure.
The session, lasting 202 minutes, will feature 14 questions distributed across parliamentary groups. The ruling Pastef-Les patriotes bloc holds 10 questions, while the opposition Takku Wallu group and independent deputies each have 2. This structure ensures balanced oversight of government actions.
This marks the fifth such session since the Prime Minister’s appointment, reinforcing government transparency and public accountability. The proceedings will be led by Ismaëla Diallo, First Vice-President of the National Assembly, who will ensure the session adheres to parliamentary procedures.
These accountability exchanges serve as a critical mechanism for citizens to assess the government’s performance and policy implementation. The session underscores the legislature’s role in maintaining checks and balances in Senegal’s democratic system.
