Dakar, July 15, 2026 – A significant reshuffle has taken place in the leadership of Senegal’s key public enterprises. Through an official presidential decree issued on the same day, the Head of State appointed Doune Pathé Mbengue, a seasoned civil administrator, as the new Director-General of the Port Autonome de Dakar (PAD). This decision marks a transition in the port’s management, with Mbengue stepping into the role previously held by Waly Diouf Bodiang, an inspector whose career spanned decades in public administration.

The appointment of Doune Pathé Mbengue reflects the government’s strategic approach to revitalizing the country’s maritime infrastructure. With years of experience in civil service, Mbengue brings a fresh perspective to the leadership of PAD, a vital hub for Senegal’s trade and economic activities. His predecessor, Waly Diouf Bodiang, has been relieved of his duties as part of a broader initiative to streamline public sector operations.

As the new Director-General, Mbengue faces the challenge of enhancing operational efficiency at the Port of Dakar while ensuring its continued role as a cornerstone of regional logistics. The port’s strategic location and capacity make it a critical asset for Senegal’s economy, particularly in facilitating imports and exports across West Africa.
