The presidents of Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé and Floribert Anzuluni, respectively, held talks in the capital city Pya on July 14. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Lomé and Kinshasa.

Consolidating Regional Ties Amid Security Concerns

During their discussion, Gnassingbé and Anzuluni reviewed the prospects for enhanced regional collaboration between Togo and DRC. However, it was the pressing security situation in Eastern DRC that dominated the conversation.

The Kinshasa Tribute to Togolese Diplomacy

Following their meeting, Anzuluni expressed his deep gratitude to Gnassingbé for his personal and sustained efforts in finding a lasting solution to the crisis gripping the region.

Gnassingbé, designated mediator of the African Union (AU) on the DRC conflict, continues to engage with all parties involved in the dispute.

This meeting at Pya reaffirmed the respected role that Togolese diplomacy plays on the continental security stage.
