Sesanga, Fayulu et Kabund

Bujumbura has become the focal point this weekend for a series of high-level consultations aimed at addressing the complex political landscape in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These crucial discussions were initiated by Évariste Ndayishimiye, who serves as both the current Chairperson of the African Union and the head of state for Burundi.

Prominent figures from the RDC’s C64 opposition coalition, including Martin Fayulu, Delly Sesanga, Dieudonné Bolengetenge, Jean Marc Kabund, and Francklin Tshiamala, have arrived in the Burundian capital. They are scheduled to hold meetings with President Ndayishimiye as part of these ongoing talks.

Beyond the political spectrum, key religious leaders are also actively participating in these vital exchanges. Archbishop Ejiba Yamapia, who presides over the Platform of Religious Confessions and Revival Churches in the RDC, is among those present. Delegations representing the influential Catholic Church and the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) have also traveled to Bujumbura to contribute to the dialogue.

This significant gathering in Bujumbura thus unites both the political opposition and the leading religious confessions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, all convened to collectively deliberate on the nation’s current political crisis and seek pathways forward.
