Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire – A fresh political movement, Alternative Crédible (ACR), introduced itself to the press on Saturday, July 4, 2026, presenting itself as a new political offering for the nation. This presentation took place during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam.

Oxyde Tano, who serves as the National Executive Secretary for ACR and was the primary speaker at the event, detailed the foundational principles, aspirations, and overarching vision of this emerging political force. The movement positions itself as a direct response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing Côte d’Ivoire.

Mr. Tano elaborated that this initiative officially commenced on December 1, 2025. It emerged from the collective will of women, men, and young people from diverse backgrounds, all united by a shared determination to introduce a novel approach to politics within Côte d’Ivoire.

According to Mr. Tano, the establishment of ACR stems from a widely recognized observation: despite its considerable human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include the high cost of living, significant youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and deep-seated social divisions.
