Chaos after Paris celebrations: 780 arrested following PSG’s Champions League win
Nearly 800 people were detained nationwide during post-victory celebrations, primarily in the capital. A 24-year-old motorcyclist lost his life on the Paris ring road.
As soon as the final whistle sounded, tensions escalated. On the Champs-Élysées, a group of young individuals targeted a bus shelter while police officers attempted to disperse them. Near Porte de Saint-Cloud, close to the Parc des Princes stadium, law enforcement faced fireworks attacks. Authorities responded with tear gas, resulting in the first arrests of the evening.
Later that night, a fleet of shared bicycles was set ablaze. What began as chaotic celebrations quickly turned into violent clashes between youth groups and police forces along the iconic Champs-Élysées.
The Périphérique ring road became a battleground as dozens of scooters blocked traffic. Some riders drove against the flow of traffic while pedestrians wandered freely among stopped vehicles. A 24-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a concrete barrier erected to halt the procession. By 4:00 AM, a 17-year-old was found critically injured after being stabbed multiple times and remains in a coma.
