François Silibi joins Bénin’s national assembly, succeeding Louis Vlavonou
François Silibi officially took his seat in the National Assembly on Friday, July 10, 2026. He steps in for Louis Vlavonou, who vacated his parliamentary position upon his appointment as an ex-officio member of the Senate, a role granted due to his previous tenure as President of the National Assembly.

The formal installation ceremony for the new deputy took place following a plenary session held today at the Palais des Gouverneurs in Porto-Novo.
Born in 1982, François Silibi is an accomplished English teacher. Hailing from Ifangni, the same locality as Louis Vlavonou, Silibi will now proudly represent this constituency within the 10th legislature. His entry officially solidifies his status as a deputy in the National Assembly, where he will serve out the remainder of the term left by Louis Vlavonou, which is scheduled to conclude in February 2033.
As the alternate for the former President of the National Assembly, François Silibi’s parliamentary debut comes as a direct result of the resignation of the retired customs agent. Louis Vlavonou is set to commence his duties in the upper house of parliament as an ex-officio member starting July 30.
