The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a key member of Gabon’s ruling coalition, has commended President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his relentless dedication to national progress. In a statement issued by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the political group highlighted the intense efforts undertaken for the country throughout the month of August.
Under the banner “From action to results”, the RPM expressed strong appreciation for newly introduced healthcare initiatives, visible infrastructure achievements, the head of state’s hands-on leadership style, and his commitment to developing the nation’s interior regions.
Significant financial boost for national healthcare
A major point of praise is the 55 billion FCFA funding package announced on August 30 in Makokou. This financial injection includes 44 billion FCFA to upgrade medical equipment across Gabon, 6 billion FCFA to revive catering services in public hospitals, and 5 billion FCFA to bolster the national social security and health insurance system (CNAMGS). The RPM views these measures as directly addressing the fundamental needs of the population and urges a swift implementation of these promises.
Beyond healthcare, the party noted the launch of several administrative, commercial, military, and medical facilities in Grand Libreville. Additionally, 17 structural initiatives were launched in the Ogooué-Ivindo province during the national celebrations in Makokou. The RPM also highlighted the Mayiga housing project, which has already delivered 50 homes, has 25 more under construction, and aims to prepare 500 plots to help decentralize economic growth away from the capital.
Transitioning from promises to tangible proof
Reflecting on the 66th anniversary of national independence and the third anniversary of the transition coup, the RPM echoed the president’s own words: “The time for promises must give way to the time for proof.” Fully aligning with this principle, the party emphasized that the ultimate measure of any policy must be its positive and direct impact on the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.
The political group also welcomed the official visit of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which concluded with the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements in Libreville.
Looking forward, the RPM encourages the administration to maintain this momentum, ensuring the long-term maintenance of new infrastructure and prioritizing job creation for the youth. The party reaffirmed its loyal support for initiatives that foster national cohesion and modernization.
Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who serves as the Vice President of Gabon, the RPM allied with the coalition backing Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for the presidential election on April 12, 2025, while preserving its distinct political identity. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
