Tax authority unveils three-pillar modernization plan
The new leadership has mapped out a clear roadmap centered on three key pillars: restructuring internal systems, broadening the tax base, and enhancing revenue collection efficiency. The administration also aims to strengthen taxpayer monitoring and enforcement mechanisms while upholding core values of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
Digital transformation takes center stage in anti-fraud strategy
President Oligui Nguema emphasized the critical role of the tax authority in driving the nation’s economic transformation, noting that domestic revenue mobilization is essential for funding infrastructure and public services. He called for an immediate transition to a fully integrated digital system to streamline taxpayer interactions, improve financial transparency, and eliminate fraudulent practices.
Stricter oversight and performance-driven governance
In his closing remarks, the Head of State urged the new leadership to abandon outdated practices and foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and transparency. By prioritizing performance, the government anticipates the tax authority will become a key driver in restoring fiscal stability and boosting public finances.
