On the second day of his official visit to Libreville, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar, toured several key infrastructures in the Gabonese capital on Saturday, June 6. Accompanied by Vice President of the Government Hermann Immongault, he visited the Cité Émeraude, the Baie des Rois, and the Cité de la Démocratie. At the latter site, Colonel Randrianirina explored the banquet hall, the Congress Palace, and the Omar Bongo Ondimba Museum.

After this “tourist marathon”, the Malagasy leader remarked that what he observed in Gabon reflects a transforming Africa. He stated that all these achievements demonstrate the commitment of African leaders to modernize their countries and accelerate development. “Everything I have seen in Gabon illustrates the determination of several African presidents to modernize and advance their nations and Africa as a whole”, he said. While not planning an exact replica of the Gabonese model—since “the processes are not the same”—Colonel Randrianirina praised the results obtained by Gabonese authorities during the Transition.

He noted that some of Gabon’s accomplishments were once considered difficult or even impossible to achieve in such a short timeframe, yet Gabon succeeded. He expressed his desire to learn from Gabon’s experience to support the refoundation process underway in his own country.

“We will try, as you just said, to learn from Gabon in order to successfully carry out Madagascar’s refoundation process so that we can lead the country to presidential elections as soon as possible”, he emphasized. His clear objective is to guide Madagascar toward a presidential election without delay. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina left Libreville the following morning.
