This past Friday, May 22, in N’Djamena, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, led a pivotal meeting of the National Joint Steering Committee for the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024-2026.
The high-level gathering brought together government officials, United Nations agency representatives, technical and financial partners, as well as civil society leaders and private sector stakeholders. At its core, the session served a dual purpose: reviewing the progress of the current 2024-2026 cycle while officially launching discussions for the next strategic framework covering 2027-2030.
During his address, Tahir Hamid Nguilin underscored the robustness of the partnership between Chad and the United Nations system, emphasizing the strategic significance of the event. He reiterated the government’s commitment outlined in the National Development Plan “Tchad Connexion 2030”—a roadmap aimed at fostering a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Chad. Key priorities include human capital development, climate adaptation, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.
« This Steering Committee meeting reflects our shared determination to align United Nations interventions with Chad’s national priorities. By endorsing the 2026 work plans and laying the groundwork for the 2027-2030 cycle, we reaffirm our dedication to inclusive growth where no one is left behind, » he stated.
The discussions also focused on key takeaways from the ongoing cycle and strategic priorities for 2027-2030, particularly financing for development, social inclusion, and resilience. The upcoming cooperation framework is set to align closely with the directives of the PND “Tchad Connexion 2030” to ensure cohesive and impactful progress.
Dr. François Batalingaya, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Chad, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the strength of joint efforts. « As we conclude this phase, our focus is already on the horizon. The new UNSDCF 2027-2030 will embody renewed ambition to effectively address the financing needs and aspirations of the Chadian people, » he noted.
