Assault near N’Djaména’s camp 27 sparks outrage
A father in N’Djaména has publicly criticized authorities after his son was attacked just meters from the highly secured camp 27. The incident has raised serious questions about citizen safety and the effectiveness of local security measures.
The assault occurred late Tuesday, July 15, 2026, as the victim—identified as Adam Mahamat, a young man in his twenties—traveled from the Farcha neighborhood toward Amriguebé. Shortly after passing near camp 27, he was targeted by unknown assailants, causing a collision. Though shaken, he remained conscious and received immediate assistance from camp 27’s security personnel, who alerted nearby police officers. A rapid response team rushed him to N’Djaména’s Central Hospital for treatment.
While the motorcycle he was riding was recovered intact, the attackers escaped before law enforcement could intervene. The incident has since sparked a wave of concern among residents who question the reliability of security protocols in areas near military installations.
Demanding accountability and stronger protection
Mahamat Adam, the victim’s father, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the official response. He disputed the explanation given by camp 27’s guards, who claimed the attackers fled without being identified. For him, this narrative downplays the severity of the breach and signals a broader failure in public safety.
« The attack happened within sight of camp 27, where security should be at its strongest, » he stated. « This proves that no area in N’Djaména is truly safe—not even those supposed to be under military protection. »
In a strong call to action, Mahamat Adam urged the Ministry of Public Security to take immediate steps to enhance citizen protection. He emphasized that every neighborhood—regardless of proximity to military or police zones—requires visible and effective security presence. « Authorities must do more than issue statements. They must ensure that such incidents never happen again, » he insisted.
