Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, mandated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, began an official visit to Chad on Monday. This trip aims to strengthen fraternal ties and deepen cooperation and partnership between the two countries, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are State Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal, and Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development Abed Hallouz, along with several heads of national companies operating in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity.

Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the Prime Minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, Head of Government Allamaye Halina, accompanied by members of the Chadian government and senior officials.

After the welcome ceremony, the two prime ministers held a bilateral working meeting. They reviewed the progress of distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad and exchanged views on how to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and broaden its scope, reflecting the shared will of both countries’ leaders to elevate fraternity and cooperation to wider horizons for the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Laying the foundation stone for a 40 MW power plant in N’Djamena

During this visit, the Prime Minister, together with his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for an Algeria-Chad solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. The plant will have a capacity of 40 megawatts. This project will be carried out by Sonelgaz International as a donation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the sister Republic of Chad, in line with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It renews Algeria’s commitment to supporting sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries, while consolidating values of solidarity and African cooperation through structural projects with a direct impact on economic and social development.

The Prime Minister will also hold consultations with the President of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, on enhancing Algeria-Chad partnership and key regional and African issues of common interest.

This visit comes within the positive and growing dynamic of Algeria-Chad relations, fulfilling the shared will of both countries’ leaders to take bilateral cooperation to higher levels and strengthen economic and development partnership.
