The Government Action Plan (PAG) for the 2026-2033 period is set to be finalized soon, with its unveiling scheduled for the political rentrée in September, according to official announcements.
Strategic roadmap to address poverty, inequality and security
Speaking on behalf of the executive, spokesperson Léandre Wilfried Houngbédji revealed that this long-term strategy aims to consolidate ongoing reforms while introducing fresh priorities centered on social upliftment, economic growth, and national security enhancement.
The new action plan is structured around three core pillars: eliminating extreme poverty, addressing regional disparities, and strengthening national safety measures.
Government efficiency and citizen engagement take center stage
To ensure the effective implementation of these ambitious goals, the government is restructuring its operational framework. Monthly cabinet meetings, bi-monthly interministerial committees, and targeted cabinet discussions will now facilitate closer monitoring and swifter decision-making.
The finalization of the PAG will also align with the country’s commitment to the Open Government Partnership, incorporating input from citizens across all twelve departments of Bénin.
These consultations aim to gather grassroots concerns and align state investments with the unique needs of each region, fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
