Rabat recently hosted a special event marking six and a half decades of diplomatic ties between Morocco and Vietnam. Organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom on Friday, the celebration brought together officials, historians, and cultural figures to honor this historic milestone.

The festivities included the debut of a thematic exhibition titled “President Ho Chi Minh: A Legacy of Peace and International Friendship”, which will remain open to the public until June 26. The showcase highlights the life and leadership of Vietnam’s revolutionary icon, whose vision of peace, independence, and cross-border cooperation continues to inspire generations.

This commemorative program was made possible through collaboration with the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association and the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site under Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Alongside the exhibition, a high-level seminar explored new pathways for strengthening bilateral cooperation across diplomatic, economic, academic, cultural, and human exchanges.

In his opening address, Mustapha El Ktiri, High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Army Veterans, emphasized the deep historical significance of Moroccan-Vietnamese relations. He described the event as a testament to the shared values and collective aspirations of two nations that have endured hardship while championing freedom.

Mr. El Ktiri, who also serves as President of the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association, drew attention to a symbolic gesture from 2022—the inauguration of the Vietnam Gate in Kenitra, which stands as a counterpart to the Morocco Gate in Bà Vì. These twin monuments span continents and generations, symbolizing enduring bonds.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco, Le Kim Quy, praised the steady progress in bilateral relations, noting the increasing frequency of high-level visits and exchanges in recent years. This heightened engagement, she stated, reflects the mutual trust and shared commitment to deepening their strategic partnership.

The economic dimension of this relationship has also flourished, with bilateral trade reaching $390 million in 2025. Beyond commerce, the collaboration extends to education, cultural exchanges, and decentralized cooperation between local governments in both countries.

Adding to the day’s significance was the unveiling of the Ho Chi Minh Library, a collection of works in French, English, and Arabic donated by the Vietnamese leader’s memorial site. The library now serves as a resource for researchers and the public, further enriching cultural ties.
