Côte d’Ivoire trains 75 inspectors to accelerate digital education transformation
In a significant move toward modernizing its education system, Côte d’Ivoire has completed a three-day training workshop in Yamoussoukro for 75 pedagogical inspectors from 25 regional education directorates. The event, held from May 4 to 6, 2026, was organized by UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Teaching (MENAET) through the Department of Technologies and Information Systems (DTSI).
As part of phase 2 of the Digital Skills Development for Supervisory and Teaching Staff (DCNPEE) project, this intensive training session aimed to equip inspectors with digital tools to enhance classroom effectiveness and educational supervision. The workshop follows phase 1, which successfully trained 43 inspectors, demonstrating Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to equitable digital education expansion nationwide.
The initiative aligns with the National Digital Education Strategy (SNDECI 2024-2028), reflecting the country’s broader vision for a modern, inclusive educational system.
Over three days, participants specializing in Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), and Physical Chemistry engaged in hands-on training covering digital content creation, interactive presentations, and AI integration in educational practices. These skills are designed to make learning more engaging while improving teaching quality across the country.
The modules received strong praise from participants, who highlighted their relevance to current educational challenges. UNESCO and DTSI emphasized the inspectors’ pivotal role as digital transformation ambassadors who will cascade these new skills to teachers across all regions.
This milestone represents a crucial step in the DCNPEE 2 project, funded by GIZ. The next phase will focus on strengthening IT managers’ capabilities, further advancing Côte d’Ivoire’s goal of building a modern, inclusive, and high-performing school system.
