Dégradation de la note du Sénégal : Alassane Sall fustige «la guerre fratricide» Diomaye-Sonko
On August 28, 2026, Moody’s, the international ratings agency, lowered Senegal’s sovereign credit rating from Caa1 to Caa2. This adjustment was primarily driven by significant refinancing pressures and the prolonged absence of a formal program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, for Deputy Thierno Alassane Sall, who also leads the République des Valeurs (RV) party, this economic downturn is a direct consequence of the “irresponsible fratricidal war” unfolding between President Diomaye Faye and his former mentor, Ousmane Sonko.

Thierno Alassane Sall articulated his concerns, stating, “Predictably, Senegal’s credit rating has once again been downgraded by Moody’s. This decline is partly attributable to the reckless internecine conflict waged by the misguided factions ‘Kiiraay’ and ‘Pastef’, personified by Diomaye and Sonko. It is to these individuals that the Senegalese people owe a portion of the worsening of their living conditions, the intensification of their hardships, and the widespread social distress they now experience.”

Furthermore, the legislator urged citizens to “remember, during upcoming elections, the accountability, and above all, the indifference of both the executive and parliament in the face of the challenges they endure,” advocating for their collective removal from power.

This recent downgrade coincides with an active mission from the IMF, currently engaged in discussions with the government in Dakar, as both parties strive to establish a new financial program.
