Abidjan is poised to host the official launch of the 2026-2027 coffee-cocoa campaign on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This significant event will coincide with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC), taking place at the Abidjan Exhibition Park, where crucial farmgate prices will be unveiled.

The much-anticipated new prices are expected to be announced by Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, representing President Alassane Ouattara.

Reflecting on the previous periods, the main campaign for 2025-2026, which ran from October 2025 to February 2026, saw a record farmgate price set at 2,800 FCFA per kilogram. However, the subsequent intermediate campaign, spanning March to August 2026, experienced a significant adjustment, with prices lowered to 1,200 FCFA per kilogram. This reduction was a direct consequence of a decline in international cocoa market prices.

Côte d’Ivoire continues its prominent role as the world’s leading cocoa producer, contributing an estimated 40% to the global supply.

For the 2025-2026 campaign, national production reached approximately 2.2 million tonnes. This period was notably characterized by considerable volatility in exports and the state’s intervention to repurchase around 123,000 tonnes of residual beans, amidst a temporary slowdown in global market commercialization.

Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 campaign, production forecasts indicate potential challenges. Climatic constraints and the aging of cocoa plantations could impact yields. Some market projections suggest a possible decrease in Ivorian production, estimating it to settle around 1.8 million tonnes.

Scheduled from September 1 to 3, the 10th JNCC represents a pivotal gathering for the entire coffee-cocoa sector. It provides a vital platform for dialogue, showcasing innovative initiatives, and strengthening collaborations among institutional, economic, and professional stakeholders.

This landmark anniversary edition is set to mark a new chapter in the history of the JNCC. The program will feature a series of encounters, experience sharing sessions, promotion of local expertise, and networking opportunities for various industry participants.

The agenda includes diverse activities such as conferences, panel discussions, exhibition spaces, business meetings, and dedicated networking sessions. The overarching goal is to solidify the JNCC’s standing as a premier platform for fostering dialogue, innovation, cooperation, and the sustained growth of the sector.

Furthermore, the 10th edition will serve as an opportune moment to review the achievements of previous JNCC events, highlight the progress made within the sector, and chart new pathways for the sustainable development and enhanced competitiveness of Côte d’Ivoire’s integral coffee-cocoa industry.
