The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have declared a decisive shift in the conflict, announcing full restoration of control across multiple zones previously targeted by militant groups in the north and central regions.
In an official statement, the FAMa highlighted sustained combat operations on Sunday near Anifif, located in the northeast, approximately 110 kilometers south of Kidal. These clashes followed the arrival of additional fighters and supplies intended for the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (FLA).
The military communiqué underscored the resilience of Malian troops, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to the mission: « Confronted with these renewed pressures, our units fought with unshakable determination throughout the day, demonstrating both courage and operational discipline. »
Reaffirming their resolve, the FAMa expressed « complete confidence in their ability to safeguard national unity, protect civilians, and decisively defeat hostile forces. »
Meanwhile, the FLA’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, had previously claimed control over Anfif following the resumption of hostilities. He also refuted reports of the death of FLA leader Mbarek Ag Akli, asserting that the commander remains actively involved in directing military operations across northern Mali.
