Rabat recently hosted the Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, a pivotal event orchestrated by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK). This significant gathering was held in close collaboration with the Embassy of India in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The high-profile forum brought together a formidable Indian delegation, comprising 21 prominent business leaders representing strategic sectors, alongside key Moroccan economic stakeholders from diverse industries. The primary objective was to thoroughly explore avenues for establishing enduring partnerships and securing mutually advantageous investments between the two nations.
During the event, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, emphasized the profound, long-standing friendship that has historically bound Morocco and India. He highlighted how this friendship has progressively matured into a robust, multifaceted, and continuously expanding economic partnership.
In an address delivered on his behalf, Sakhi further noted that numerous high-level ministerial initiatives and the strategic memoranda of understanding (MoUs) inked between Morocco and India across critical domains vividly underscore the dynamic nature of their political relationship.
He added that the very presence of an Indian business delegation, featuring executives from sectors such as automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, serves as compelling evidence of the escalating interest Indian entities are showing in the thriving Moroccan market.
The vitality of bilateral exchanges between the two countries is particularly evident in the substantial volume of their economic trade, Sakhi observed. He underscored Morocco’s resolute commitment to further invigorate this momentum, recognizing India as a premier commercial partner boasting considerable technological and industrial prowess.
Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, articulated his belief that both India and Morocco possess the inherent capacity to construct a formidable partnership that could effectively unite India, the Kingdom, and the broader African continent. He specifically pointed to Morocco’s significant potential and extensive capabilities.
In this context, Puri commended the abundant opportunities that Morocco presents, particularly within emerging sectors such as renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. He remarked that the Kingdom provides an ideal platform for enterprises from both nations to implement a range of projects and advance technological development.
The forum’s proceedings were enriched by the screening of an institutional video, which showcased the economic strengths and investment prospects inherent in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. This was complemented by a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.
A significant outcome of the event was the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding, designed to bolster commercial exchanges, stimulate investments, and foster industrial partnerships specifically between India and the dynamic Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
The forum concluded with a dedicated networking session and a series of productive B2B meetings, allowing delegates from both sides to engage directly and explore concrete collaboration opportunities.
