OGC Nice handed two closed-door games after Allianz Riviera chaos
The disciplinary board has imposed two full closed-door matches and a suspended game on Nice’s Allianz Riviera stadium following chaotic scenes during the final Ligue 1 clash against Metz. The club has already lodged an appeal, which could allow fans to attend the crucial promotion playoff return leg against Saint-Étienne on May 29.
The Ligue 1 Professional Football League’s disciplinary committee handed down harsh sanctions to OGC Nice following disturbances at the Allianz Riviera during the season finale against FC Metz. The club faces two immediate closed-door games and one suspended match due to «use and throwing of pyrotechnic devices, pitch invasion, and damage to the stadium at the final whistle».
These sanctions will impact Nice’s upcoming fixtures, most notably the promotion playoff return leg against AS Saint-Étienne scheduled for May 29. Though the club has already filed an appeal, the decision currently means the Allianz Riviera will host empty stands for the decisive match. Nice’s away leg at Geoffroy-Guichard on May 26 will already be played without suspended striker Elye Wahi.
PSG received a separate sanction of closing the Auteuil stand at Parc des Princes for «use of pyrotechnics and visual expressions observed» during a Ligue 1 match. This punishment will apply to their first home game of the 2026-27 season.
Other sanctions handed down
A fifth booking or revocation of suspended games will result in one-match bans for: Benjamin André (Lille), Mahdi Camara (Stade Rennais FC), Christian Mawissa (AS Monaco), and Elye Wahi (OGC Nice).
The disciplinary board will examine FC Nantes’ case separately after supporters invaded the Beaujoire stadium early in their match against Toulouse.
