Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo welcomed a delegation from the Inter-African Federation of Insurance Brokers (FIAC) on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The group, led by its interim President, Vakaramoko Samaké, met with the Head of Government to discuss the upcoming 16th Annual General Assembly of the Federation, set to take place in Ouagadougou from June 10 to 13, 2026.

Themed “The role of insurance brokerage in expanding access and improving the penetration rate”, this significant event aims to establish the broker as a central figure in advancing financial inclusion.

This regional conference will bring together nearly 200 insurance brokers from the 14 member nations of the CIMA zone (Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets), in addition to representatives from Guinea Conakry and Ghana. Following the meeting, the interim President of FIAC expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s personal involvement and his agreement to serve as the event’s patron.

Vakaramoko Samaké

We demonstrated to him the importance of our profession. Today, insurance brokers contribute to the economic development of our countries and to job creation. This general assembly marks the beginning of the qualitative change we want to bring about. The theme of financial inclusion is a new start for the support of our populations by insurance brokers,” he explained.

The Head of Government, in turn, commended the choice of the Burkinabè capital to host this 16th edition. He described it as a “mark of fraternity” towards the nation.

We have chosen a trajectory that earns us a lot of demonization and negative stereotypes. We remain serene because the country is moving forward in all areas, as evidenced by macroeconomic indicators,” the Prime Minister stated.

He went on to emphasize the relevance of the theme, which aligns with the government’s agenda. “Your role is important. Today, insurance is essential in all sectors. In rural areas, we now speak of climate insurance. This is proof that risks are expanding and that a minimum of coverage is necessary for our populations,” he highlighted.

Reaffirming the government’s desire to make insurance brokerage a tool for resilience, the Prime Minister concluded, “Be assured of our availability to work alongside you and to take into account the recommendations from your work. I invite you to be united and to stay in phase with the evolutions of our time.

Through this audience, the government confirms its ambition to make this sector a major player in the refoundation and economic resilience of Burkina Faso.
