During a recent gathering in Touba, Ousmane Sonko issued a stern warning, indicating his party’s readiness to file a motion of no confidence against the current government. The prominent PASTEF leader declared that his political movement would not hesitate to deploy this parliamentary mechanism to challenge practices it deems unacceptable.
At an assembly held yesterday in Touba, as part of PASTEF’s ’48 hours’ event, Sonko explicitly raised the prospect of a no-confidence motion targeting the administration led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. He cautioned that PASTEF would indeed activate this legislative recourse if the government’s present trajectory continued unabated.
Addressing his party’s supporters, Ousmane Sonko affirmed, “We will employ every legal avenue available to us, including a motion of no confidence, to bring down the government, and we will do so as many times as required.” The head of PASTEF underscored that his political organization simply cannot tolerate actions that contradict the fundamental principles for which its members have tirelessly struggled.
He further emphasized, “We have fought for a decade, enduring sacrifices and honoring martyrs. We will not permit such practices to take root.” Through this powerful declaration, Sonko has positioned the no-confidence motion as a central element of PASTEF’s political strategy against the government. He views this parliamentary instrument as a legitimate means to challenge decisions he finds objectionable, asserting PASTEF’s readiness to deploy it whenever circumstances necessitate.
