In a landmark move for higher education in Togo, the SIGMA Scientific Group and France’s École Supérieure des Agricultures (ESA) have forged a strategic academic alliance. The partnership was formally unveiled in Lomé, marking the beginning of a new chapter in agricultural engineering education for the nation.
Starting with the 2026-2027 academic year, the collaboration will introduce a specialized Scientific Preparatory Class exclusively for high school graduates with a scientific background. This initiative aims to equip students with the advanced knowledge needed to excel in agronomy engineering while addressing the growing agricultural demands across West Africa.
Training tomorrow’s agronomy leaders
The program’s core objective is to cultivate a cadre of experts capable of driving agricultural, food, and environmental transformations across the continent. By blending rigorous academic training with practical innovation, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical excellence and real-world agricultural challenges.
« Bridging excellence and agriculture »

Dr. Ingénieur Beaugrain Domongue, Director of Development and Foresight at SIGMA Scientific Group, emphasized the program’s vision: « We are committed to connecting academic excellence with agricultural practice, empowering our producers with scientific innovation to bolster food sovereignty. »
The partnership is hailed as a groundbreaking advancement in Togo’s higher education landscape, combining SIGMA’s scientific rigor with ESA’s world-class agricultural expertise.
ESA’s pedagogical strength fuels the program
The collaboration leverages ESA’s pedagogical strengths, including updated curricula, teacher training, and active participation in academic evaluations. A key highlight is the annual Summer Workshop hosted at ESA’s Angers campus in France, offering students international exposure and immersion in a globally recognized academic environment.
The curriculum will prioritize life sciences, sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, food systems, and technological innovation, using dynamic teaching methods that define ESA’s reputation.
A five-year journey to agronomy expertise

The program spans five years, with the first two dedicated to foundational sciences, agriculture, livestock, and food systems. Upon completion, students will transition into ESA’s three-year engineering cycle, culminating in a degree in agronomy engineering.
This initiative directly responds to the urgent need for skilled professionals capable of guiding Africa’s agricultural evolution and strengthening the continent’s food security.
SIGMA: A beacon of scientific excellence in Togo
Founded in 2018, the SIGMA Scientific Group stands as a premier institution in Togo, offering a college, high school, and preparatory programs. Its mission is to nurture a new generation of scientists, engineers, researchers, and leaders equipped to tackle 21st-century challenges through innovation, international collaboration, and academic rigor.
