Advancing local governance and decentralization took center stage during a high-level meeting between Togo’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Local Governance, and Customary Affairs and the Acting Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Lomé. The diplomat from the United States, Kimberly M. McClure, engaged in a courtesy visit to assess how both nations can collaborate more effectively. Key topics included Togo’s ongoing decentralization reforms, capacity-building for local authorities, and strategies to enhance social cohesion through the involvement of traditional leaders and grassroots actors.

During the talks, the Togolese minister outlined the country’s administrative structure and highlighted recent government reforms aimed at improving public service delivery at the local level.
