The renowned presenter of the iconic show ‘Couleurs Tropicales’ has been appointed as Presidential Advisor on Culture, Media, and Benin’s Global Visibility.
Claudy Siar, the respected presenter of the long-running ‘Couleurs Tropicales’ show, has been appointed Presidential Advisor on Culture, Media, and Benin’s Global Visibility.
This appointment marks a significant career shift for the media personality and panafricanist Claudy Siar. The decision was officially announced on June 3, 2026, by President Romuald Wadagni, who tasked him with enhancing the country’s cultural influence and media presence while strengthening its global visibility.
Claudy Siar’s journey to this new role began with his departure from Radio France Internationale (RFI) in March 2026. His exit coincided with the conclusion of his contract and the restructuring of RFI’s programming lineup. The end of his iconic ‘Couleurs Tropicales’ show, which he had hosted since 1995, was announced shortly after his departure.
The circumstances surrounding his exit have been the subject of much discussion. Claudy Siar publicly cited his dismissal as a consequence of his panafricanist views, outspoken political stances, and critiques of Western policies. In contrast, RFI’s management justified the decision by pointing to a shift in musical programming strategy.
With over three decades of experience at RFI, Claudy Siar is now embarking on a new venture with the audiovisual group NewWorld TV. The partnership includes the upcoming launch of two channels: NewWorld Mix and NewWorld Muzik, positioning him at the forefront of Benin’s expanding media landscape.
