After a day of uncertainty on Sunday, following the dramatic appearance of military personnel on national television claiming to have ousted President Patrice Talon, the president himself declared later that evening that the situation was “completely under control.”

While some individuals involved in Sunday’s thwarted coup attempt in Bénin remain at large and are actively being pursued, all those held captive, particularly senior officers, have been safely released. Concurrently, neighboring countries are preparing to offer support, including military assistance.
