François Silibi officially joins Benin’s national assembly

François Silibi has officially taken his seat in the National Assembly of Benin as of Friday, July 10, 2026. His induction follows the departure of Louis Vlavonou, who transitioned to the Senate after serving as President of the National Assembly during the previous legislature.

From substitute to deputy: Silibi’s parliamentary debut

Born in 1982, François Silibi brings educational credentials to his new role as a deputy, having served as an English professor. Hailing from Ifangni—just like his predecessor Louis Vlavonou—Silibi will now represent this constituency in the 10th legislature. His swearing-in ceremony took place immediately after the plenary session held at the Governor’s Palace in Porto-Novo.

Silibi’s induction marks a significant milestone in his political career, as he assumes the responsibilities left vacant by Vlavonou. The transition ensures continuity in parliamentary representation for the Ifangni constituency until the current legislative term concludes in February 2033.
