The government of Bénin has conveyed its unwavering solidarity to the people of Niger following a series of attacks that unfolded on 18 June 2026 near Niamey’s Diori-Hamani International Airport.
In an official statement released from Cotonou, Bénin’s leadership expressed deep concern over the incident and issued a strong condemnation of the assault on a key civilian infrastructure.
« The Beninese authorities firmly reject this violent act, which deliberately targets vital civilian infrastructure and endangers the lives of ordinary citizens, » the statement declared.
The Bénin government extended its full support not only to the Nigerien population but also to the national authorities, including President Abdourahamane Tiani, in their efforts to restore stability.
Emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations, the communiqué reiterated the historical ties of friendship and mutual solidarity uniting Bénin and Niger.
