Benjamin Cremaschi, the former Inter Miami midfielder, has finalized his permanent transfer to Italian Serie A side Parma after the club exercised its purchase option for approximately $5 million. The American talent, who joined Inter Miami from their youth academy, made just nine appearances for the Herons before a meniscus injury in March brought his season to an abrupt end.

The permanent transfer provides Inter Miami with greater wage flexibility as they navigate the summer transfer window. Cremaschi, who was named US Young Player of the Year last season and has earned three caps for the national team, had been on loan at Parma since the start of the year.

Parma secures Cremaschi amid Serie A ambitions

Parma’s decision to trigger the €4 million purchase option extends Cremaschi’s stay in Italy beyond the original loan expiration in September 2025. The young American midfielder brings technical quality and versatility to the Emilia-Romagna club, though his adaptation to Serie A has been hindered by physical setbacks.

A challenging spell in Italy

Despite his promising profile, Cremaschi struggled to establish himself in Parma’s starting XI following the arrival of Argentine playmaker Rodrigo De Paul. Limited playing time and persistent fitness issues restricted his impact, with only sporadic appearances before the March injury forced an early conclusion to his campaign.

Frustration in Miami leads to Italian exit

His departure from Inter Miami reflects growing discontent over tactical decisions and reduced game time. In candid remarks last August, Cremaschi expressed his frustration: “I’m frustrated. I want to play. The most important thing for me is to compete at the highest level, and to do that, I need playing time and experience. I’ve barely featured in recent matches, and I don’t believe it’s due to my level.”

Following those comments, the club facilitated his temporary move to Parma in search of regular action, a decision that has now culminated in a permanent transfer.

Inter Miami’s transfer strategy gains clarity

The midfielder’s exit creates space in Inter Miami’s squad, potentially opening the door for new signings. Reports suggest the club is eyeing former Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, currently a free agent, as a potential replacement to bolster their midfield depth.
