From May 12 to 15, 2026, Abidjan will host the 7th annual ID4Africa general assembly at the Parc des Expositions de Port-Bouët. The event centers on the theme “Digital identity: from public digital infrastructure to digital public ecosystems.”

ID4Africa serves as a pivotal pan-African platform, uniting public policymakers, technical experts, private sector innovators, and international institutional representatives. This year’s gathering marks a milestone in advancing secure digital identification systems across the continent.

The official inauguration took place on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, under the leadership of Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné. Over four days, discussions will explore critical themes such as safeguarding population data, seamless access to digital public services, and fostering inclusive digital ecosystems.

The conference aims to shift the focus beyond mere technical frameworks toward holistic systems that integrate legal, institutional, human, and sector-specific dimensions. Since its inception in 2014, ID4Africa has been instrumental in guiding African nations toward building robust, responsible digital identity systems that drive development, digital transformation, and humanitarian efforts.

By hosting this year’s edition, Côte d’Ivoire reinforces its commitment to the continent’s digital evolution. The event underscores the vital role of reliable digital identities in ensuring citizens can effortlessly access essential public services.
