Legal response clears name of Sani Mouhamadou in alleged DGRE contract dispute
In a strongly worded legal response, attorney Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of Cameroonian professional Sani Mouhamadou, categorically denied claims that his client had ever referenced Léopold Maxime Eko Eko in a recent press statement.
Mouhamadou’s legal team issued the statement after Eko Eko’s legal representatives published a letter claiming that Mouhamadou had falsely implicated the Direction Générale de la Recherche Extérieure (DGRE)—Cameroon’s external intelligence agency—in a 2020 contract dispute without evidence.
The response outlines that Eko Eko’s team had accused Mouhamadou of fabricating links to the DGRE, asserting that it was Eko Eko who had initially approached Mouhamadou seeking services, not the other way around. According to their claims, the DGRE had rejected his proposals due to a lack of verifiable credentials.
Mouhamadou denies all allegations of impropriety
Mouhamadou’s statement emphasizes that his original press release was issued solely to correct misinformation circulating in viral videos from late July 2026. He clarifies that his intention was never to name Eko Eko, suggesting that any confusion stemmed from a misunderstanding.
To substantiate his position, Mouhamadou provides a timestamped message from February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, in which Eko Eko allegedly reached out with an urgent request for assistance: « XXX… J’ai urgemment besoin de votre aide …XXX ».
He further underscores his professional standing by citing his certification from the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale, reinforcing the legitimacy of his expertise in the matter.
Demand for correction and legal recourse
Following the publication of Eko Eko’s rebuttal, Mouhamadou states that he attempted an informal resolution to rectify the error, but no corrective action was taken. In light of this, he formally requests the immediate withdrawal of the press statement within 48 hours, warning that failure to comply will result in legal action for defamation.
The statement, issued from Yaoundé on August 10, 2026, underscores Mouhamadou’s commitment to protecting his professional reputation and pursuing all available legal avenues to uphold his integrity.
