On the occasion of World Population Day, the Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey hosted a gathering focused on demographic and socio-anthropological issues.

Researchers, teachers, students, and representatives from institutions engaged in discussions about the main challenges linked to population evolution and their implications for Niger’s development.

The exchanges highlighted the importance of having reliable demographic data and better understanding social and cultural realities to guide public policies, particularly in education, health, and employment sectors.

Participants also emphasized the role of research and dialogue among various actors in accompanying societal changes.

The gathering reminded that demographic dynamics are a major issue for Niger, but they can also represent an opportunity when young people benefit from favorable conditions to develop their skills and fully participate in the country’s economic and social life.
