Maurice Digbeu Kipré, the visionary founder and CEO of Serenity, Côte d’Ivoire’s leading insurance company, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Abidjan. He was 75 years old.
Born and educated in Côte d’Ivoire before completing his studies in the United States, Kipré launched his career in 1979 at American International Group (AIG), a global insurance giant. His leadership and expertise quickly set him apart in the industry.
In 1988, he took on the role of Director of Insurance at Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, where he shaped national insurance policies. His dedication to the sector led him to CICA-RE in 1993, where he served as CEO until early 2008.
Recognizing the untapped potential in Africa’s insurance market, Kipré founded Serenity in November 2008. Under his guidance, the company grew into a trusted name in Ivorian insurance, known for innovation and customer-centric solutions.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Kipré was a pillar of the African insurance community. He held influential positions in key regional organizations, including the Regional Control Commission of the CIMA, the Executive Committee of the African Insurance Organization (OAA), and the Executive Board of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF). He also served on the Board of Directors of the International Insurance Institute in Yaoundé.
