Pierre Emmanuel Binyam clarifies the status of Maurice Kamto within the MRC
The newly appointed head of the Clarification and Restoration Commission, Pierre Emmanuel Binyam, has spoken out regarding recent political shifts surrounding Maurice Kamto.
During a detailed discussion on the program “Entretien avec” aired on Stv, Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addressed the narrative of Maurice Kamto’s supposed exit from his party. This move was initially intended to allow Kamto to join Manidem and secure a nomination for the 2026 presidential election, a bid that was ultimately blocked.
“The departure of Maurice Kamto from the party was not a resignation in the sense of him turning his back on us,” Binyam clarified. He further explained that the leader had been tasked with a specific mission. Following the conclusion of those events, the party has formally requested that he return to finish his current leadership mandate.
Binyam, a prominent figure in the Mouvement pour la renaissance du Cameroun (MRC), emphasized that the disqualification of Maurice Kamto was a significant blow to the party’s supporters and members.
“The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy has left a deep mark on our organization,” Binyam stated. He noted that the exclusion was particularly difficult to accept given that multiple polls, both within Cameroun and internationally, had projected him as the heavy favorite to win the upcoming election.
The political landscape in Cameroun remains tense as the MRC continues to navigate the aftermath of these electoral hurdles while reaffirming its commitment to its primary leadership.
