The fourth edition of the Mousso d’Or ceremony took place this Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Ouagadougou, highlighting the exceptional leadership and contributions of women to the development of Burkina Faso. This prestigious event, dedicated to celebrating female excellence, recognized several outstanding women and organizations across various professional fields.
The night reached its climax with the presentation of the Mousso d’Or 2026 trophy to Salmata Sawadogo. As the CEO of Salmata Commerce Général, her victory serves as a testament to her remarkable entrepreneurial journey and her dedicated efforts toward the economic empowerment of women in the region.
Upon receiving the award, she expressed deep gratitude to the organizers and her supporters. She emphasized that this distinction is a call to action, encouraging her to continue her work and inspire more women to believe in their potential and pursue entrepreneurship.

Recognizing talent across diverse sectors
The ceremony also honored several other figures for their achievements. Talato Ouédraogo secured the “Pépite d’or” prize, while the Wend Guetta association was recognized in the “Association” category. In the realm of sports, Charlotte Milliogo from the USFA was celebrated, alongside Mam Sank in the “Restauration” category and Almaty Meria, who took home the award for “Artiste musicienne.”

Each winner was presented with a trophy, a sash, and a certificate of recognition. Furthermore, an honorary trophy was awarded to Adja Abibou Sana Ouédraogo for her inspiring career and long-standing commitment to her community.
The evening featured special tributes to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), acknowledging their vital role in maintaining peace and social cohesion within Burkina Faso.
Commitment to social impact and resilience
Mohamado Sanfo, the general commissioner of the event, reiterated that the Mousso d’Or aims to shine a light on women who excel in their respective fields. He noted that the happiness of a woman often translates to the happiness of an entire family.

Beyond the awards, the initiative carries out social actions to support vulnerable women. This year, forty widows of fallen FDS members received specialized training and support to help them achieve financial independence.
Reflecting on the growth of the event, Mohamado Sanfo expressed pride in its evolution despite various challenges. He observed that the strong turnout this year reflects a growing public interest in the promotion of women’s rights and achievements.
In total, sixteen categories, seven special prizes, and one honorary trophy were distributed during this fourth edition. Talato Ouédraogo, the “Pépite d’or” winner, praised the initiative for encouraging women to strive for the highest standards. She urged all women with ambitions to pursue them boldly, noting that female excellence is now widely recognized and supported.
