Political figure Salomon Beas has accused the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) of abandoning its democratic promises.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, he criticized what he described as the party’s tribal purge, questioning its commitment to democratic values. The post, titled “Tribal purge or democratic struggle within the MRC”, dissects the party’s internal operations.

“…Etymologically, the MRC presented itself as a democratic party with structures designed to foster political engagement and build a foundation for Cameroon’s future democracy. Yet this was merely a facade. Once inside, members found themselves drained of their political substance, even prevented from evolving elsewhere if they dared to oppose the party’s direction. The MRC we know hides a darker reality: a network of tribal caciques whose knives are always drawn, ready to politically assassinate anyone who uncovers their insidious plan of ethnic domination masked as political camouflage,” Beas wrote.

The former MRC member accused the party of reducing its militants to mere followers of its leader, stripping them of any real political agency.

“…The late Paul Eric Kingue, may he rest in peace, had warned about the MRC’s ethno-fascist and tribal nature in his public statements. He described it as a sect that used others as mere tools to gain political traction. His warnings proved prophetic. Today, the party’s tribal agenda has overshadowed its political ideals, with elimination campaigns as its operating principle. What we condemn in the RDPC, the MRC replicates with ethnic subtlety, enforcing loyalty to the leader rather than political ideas. We are in politics, not traditional chieftaincies,” Beas continued.
