Empowering Youth Through Digital Responsibility in N’Djamena
A groundbreaking initiative is taking shape in the heart of N’Djamena, where 100 young people are gathering to learn the principles of digital citizenship and responsible online behavior. Supported by government agencies and local NGOs, this program represents a bold step toward fostering a safer digital ecosystem for Chadian youth.
Building a Safer Digital Future
The initiative, titled « Building an Inclusive and Secure Digital Space for Chadian Youth », is spearheaded by the House of Africa in partnership with the European Partnership for Democracy. Its core mission is to transform how young people interact with digital platforms, shifting from passive consumption to active, responsible engagement.
At its core, the workshop addresses critical challenges such as misinformation, hate speech, and online manipulation—issues that pose real threats to social cohesion and national stability. Through interactive sessions, participants will explore the fundamentals of digital literacy, fact-checking, and cybersecurity, equipping them with the tools to navigate the digital world safely and confidently.
From Participants to Digital Ambassadors
The training goes beyond technical skills, emphasizing the role of youth as ambassadors of responsible digital behavior. By the end of the program, these young leaders will return to their communities not just as informed users, but as advocates for ethical online practices. As Youssouf Allafouza Mahamat, Secretary-General of House of Africa, emphasized, this initiative reflects a collective desire among Chadian youth to take control of their digital future rather than being mere spectators.
The workshop’s curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Understanding digital threats – recognizing misinformation, phishing, and cyberbullying;
- Fact-checking techniques – verifying sources and debunking false claims;
- AI and cybersecurity basics – safeguarding personal data and identifying risks;
- Promoting digital ethics – fostering respectful and constructive online interactions.
This program is more than just a training session; it’s a movement toward a more secure and informed digital society in Chad. By investing in its youth, the country is laying the foundation for a future where technology serves as a force for progress rather than division.
