Bénin 2060 education roadmap prioritizes science and vocational training

Cotonou — From August 5 to 7, 2026, the National Council for Education (CNE) will convene its third consultative assembly in Cotonou to advance scientific and technical education pathways. The event brings together government officials, academia, technical and financial partners, and civil society to align on priorities for Benin‘s educational system.

Fostering innovation through scientific and technical education

The three-day gathering at the Golden Tulip hotel aims to strengthen Benin’s educational framework by emphasizing science, technology, and vocational training. Discussions will focus on aligning curricula with the country’s industrialization and digital transformation goals under the Bénin 2060 vision.

Participants include CNE members, government representatives, university leaders, public and private institutions, and civil society groups. The assembly serves as a platform to assess progress on prior recommendations and refine strategies for improving education quality nationwide.

CNE’s role in shaping Benin’s educational future

Clément Chabi, CNE’s executive secretary, highlighted the council’s role as a national dialogue framework. He emphasized that sustainable development and technological sovereignty depend on investing in youth, research, and human capital development.

Noël Ahonangnon Gbaguidi, CNE president, reiterated the institution’s mandate to define educational policies, coordinate sector activities, and monitor public decisions. The council, composed of 69 members from public and private sectors, reviews performance reports and submits recommendations to enhance the national education system.

During the assembly, delegates will evaluate the implementation of past recommendations and propose measures to improve teaching quality and align educational priorities with the Bénin 2060 roadmap. The CNE views strengthening scientific, technological, and vocational pathways as critical to driving innovation and supporting industrial growth.

The outcomes of the session, including concrete action plans, are expected to guide future educational reforms.
