Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno delivered a firm statement in the wake of a deadly assault: «We will redouble our efforts and continue this fight with unwavering resolve until this threat is completely eliminated». His words came the day after a faction of the Boko Haram insurgent group launched an assault on the Barka Tolorom military base, situated on the Chadian side of Lake Chad. The attack resulted in the loss of 24 soldiers’ lives.
