The recent week in Burkina Faso has been marked by a series of government initiatives, institutional decisions, and major events affecting security, economy, culture, and sports.
On the institutional level, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo has established the IPN-Farafina orientation council. This strategic instance, composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds, aims to define the institution’s major orientations and promote indigenous values as well as the global recognition of black people.
In the dynamic of the Progressive Popular Revolution, a group of twenty-one high-ranking officials from the Presidency of Burkina Faso embarked on a twenty-one-day immersion patriotism and military training. This formation seeks to reinforce discipline, sacrifice, and unity among state servants and defense forces.
In terms of security, Ouagadougou hosted the ministers in charge of security from the Confederation of West African States (AES). Received by President Ibrahim Traoré, they exchanged on strengthening cooperation, free movement of people and goods, as well as harmonization of control mechanisms within the confederal space.
The Council of Ministers on July 2nd adopted several structural measures, including the creation of a technological academy. This institution aims to form high-level skills in strategic sectors such as cybersecurity, nuclear energy, aerospace, and mining.
The government also announced the creation of CIM-SAHEL, an organization responsible for regulating the cement market to combat speculation. Other measures involve clarifying work hours in the administration and introducing a new regulatory framework for humanitarian interventions focused on empowering vulnerable populations.
In the agricultural domain, Prime Minister Ouédraogo visited the Yibi lowland rice zone in Arbollé commune. This area, which is 90% exploited by women, illustrates the government’s commitment to supporting national production sustainably.

At Ouagadougou, the Laabal Brigade launched a large-scale operation at the Yaar market 10 to put an end to anarchic occupations under high tension lines. This situation is considered dangerous for both merchants and users.
In terms of economic and financial affairs, the second ordinary session of the UMOA Council of Ministers concluded in Ouagadougo. The ministers adopted several reforms concerning veterinary medicines, financial stability, as well as strengthening community partnerships.
Meanwhile, the Mobile Control and Fraud Brigade (BMCRF) reassured consumers by stating that no increase in beer prices had been observed among authorized producers and distributors, despite some observed price increases in certain beverage sectors.
The week was also marked by a 9th ceremony of homage to Captain Thomas Sankara and his companions, organized under the banner of integrity to perpetuate the ideals of Burkina Faso’s revolutionary father.
In the environmental domain, the first edition of the Environment and Ecocitoyenneté Week (SECO 2026) concluded with a satisfactory balance, accompanied by the launch of the ‘Faso Vert’ Award to encourage ecological initiatives.
Finally, on the sports scene, burkinabè boxer Abel Hamed Nikiema won the WBA Africa title after his victory against Beninese Dossou Faustin Houenou in Ouagadougou. This continental success opens up new international perspectives for the Burkinabè athlete.
