Following a fresh directive from Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, authorities have announced an additional extension to the national population and agricultural census operations in Cameroon.

The decision aims to include more households, individuals, and farming enterprises that were previously missed due to incomplete coverage, particularly in newly developed urban areas such as Yaoundé and Douala.

According to the census commission, only 60.4% of the population has been recorded since the initial phase began in April. Challenges persist, including delayed payments to enumerators leading to sporadic work stoppages, low household participation rates, and communication barriers in linguistically diverse regions.

Security concerns in high-risk zones have also slowed progress, complicating efforts to achieve full coverage before the revised deadline.
