Chelsea FC has successfully appealed a harsh penalty that initially included a six-point deduction, securing instead a suspended transfer ban. The Football Association confirmed the sanctions relate to financial breaches committed during Roman Abramovich’s ownership between 2009 and 2022, with most irregularities occurring between 2010 and 2016.

The new Chelsea ownership uncovered these financial mismanagements following their 2022 acquisition. In September of the previous year, the FA formally charged the club with 74 breaches of regulations. Investigations revealed Chelsea made £47 million in payments to unregistered agents and third parties between 2011 and 2018, including transfers for stars like Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o, Willian, André Schürrle, Nemanja Matić, and David Luiz.
