The Côte d’Ivoire has stepped up its diplomatic engagement at the international level by actively participating in the second session of the International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) at the United Nations headquarters in New York. The forum, focused on assessing progress toward the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration—adopted in Marrakech in 2018—brings together nations to address the complexities of global human mobility.
Leading the Côte d’Ivoire‘s delegation, Dr. Hinin Moustapha, Director-General of the National Population Office (ONP), represented the nation in high-level discussions centered on sharing best practices and state commitments under the Global Compact.

In his address, Dr. Hinin Moustapha highlighted the country’s significant strides in key migration management sectors. These include strengthening migratory data production systems, reducing vulnerabilities, combating discrimination, and fostering international cooperation.

The Côte d’Ivoire has revamped its data collection and analysis systems to ensure reliable, up-to-date, and disaggregated information—critical for shaping effective public policies.
This vision materialized in 2025 with the launch of a nationwide migration survey, positioning the country as a potential leader in evidence-based migration governance across Africa.
