The President of the Republic of Gabon received Libreville’s Mayor, Eugène Mba, for a working session focused on evaluating local governance performance, municipal achievements, and strengthening state-local collaboration to better serve citizens.
During the meeting, Mayor Mba presented a comprehensive progress report on the implementation of the roadmap assigned upon his appointment. He outlined the newly restructured municipal organization alongside key strategic priorities designed to revitalize the capital’s administrative and urban landscape.
Discussions centered on high-impact projects set to redefine Libreville’s infrastructure and livability. Among the top priorities are urban space reorganization, development of modern parking facilities, expansion and enhancement of green and botanical spaces, eradication of illegal public land occupation, and upgrading neighborhood-level infrastructure to elevate quality of life.
A major emphasis was placed on modernizing municipal operations through digital transformation. This initiative aims to streamline citizen administrative processes, enhance public service efficiency, boost transparency in financial management, secure revenue collection, and significantly increase the city’s own revenue streams. The Head of State also underscored the urgent need to accelerate urban sanitation efforts, particularly in waste management.
With waste collection, transportation, treatment, and recycling posing growing challenges, the President stressed that cleanliness and public health are non-negotiable benchmarks for any forward-thinking capital. He reinforced the vision of a modern, outward-looking Gabon, positioning Libreville as a national showcase that must meet international standards in urban planning, local governance, and public service excellence.
The Head of State urged the Mayor to lead with determination, creativity, and operational efficiency in executing these transformative initiatives.
