The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has embarked on a three-day state visit to France, marking his second official trip to the European nation since assuming office.
This high-level diplomatic engagement aims to deepen collaboration between Libreville and Paris across critical sectors. Key focus areas include investment opportunities, infrastructure development, energy transition initiatives, industrial growth, cultural exchanges, and economic partnerships.
The Gabonese delegation, comprising business leaders, government officials, and media representatives, will participate in discussions with the French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.

One of the central topics of the visit is Gabon’s ambition to stop exporting raw manganese by 2029. As the world’s second-largest producer of this mineral, Libreville seeks to transition into local processing, thereby boosting industrialization and maximizing value addition within its borders.
Additionally, the talks will address defense cooperation, including the future of Camp de Gaulle—France’s military base in Libreville. With France adjusting its military footprint across Africa, the number of French troops in Gabon has decreased significantly from around 1,200 to just over 100 in recent years.
