Following a disappointing season, Olympique de Marseille is determined to forge a fresh path for the 2025-2026 campaign. While numerous departures are anticipated, largely due to ongoing financial constraints, the club is reportedly considering bringing back a well-known former Ligue 1 striker. The name Martin Terrier has emerged in Marseille, a prospect that appears to greatly appeal to Bruno Genesio, the newly appointed coach of the Phocaean city club.

As the new coach of the OM, Bruno Genesio steps into the role, taking over from Habib Beye, whose recent arrival did not yield the desired turnaround. The 59-year-old tactician, who recently departed LOSC, also had a notable spell at Stade Rennais. It was there that he previously managed Martin Terrier. The 29-year-old forward, currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen since 2024, is believed to be a strong fit for OM.

OM’s interest in Martin Terrier delights Bruno Genesio

In recent days, Martin Terrier’s name has been circulating in connection with OM. The 29-year-old player is reportedly a target being explored by Marseille’s management for a potential transfer. This move could see him reunite with Bruno Genesio, his former coach at Rennes, where Terrier excelled between 2020 and 2024. “Mohamed Toubache-Ter isn’t claiming that Olympique de Marseille isn’t interested in Martin Terrier, or vice-versa. He’s simply stating that a player directly contacting a sporting director of another club to express interest is highly unusual. That type of call seems very surprising to me. I can, however, confirm OM’s interest in Martin Terrier. Currently, there are only discussions with the player, but nothing more at this stage! No official offer has been made to Leverkusen. There’s some dialogue between them. Bruno Genesio adores the player, he absolutely loves him,” Thomas from La Tribune Olympienne stated.

Officially appointed as the new head coach of OM, Bruno Genesio aims to guide the Marseille club back to prominence. The former LOSC coach would reportedly be thrilled to welcome a player he has previously managed and knows intimately. Martin Terrier, meanwhile, remains under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2029, with his current market value estimated at €9M. For any acquisition to proceed, OM will first need to orchestrate several player sales to replenish its finances.
