A fierce political dispute has erupted in Sénégal as former Sports Minister Khady Diène Gaye strongly refutes assertions made by Abdourahmane Diouf. The controversy centers on claims that Ousmane Sonko, the current President of the National Assembly and former Prime Minister, supposedly consented to a national debt restructuring plan.
A sharp rebuttal of debt claims
Expressing her absolute astonishment, Khady Diène Gaye, who previously shared cabinet responsibilities with the minister, made it clear that she was stunned by these declarations. She vehemently denied that Ousmane Sonko ever endorsed such a financial strategy, calling the allegations completely fabricated.
The prominent Pastef figure did not hold back in her criticism, describing the minister’s statements as “grotesque lies” following what she characterized as a series of widespread failures. She admitted to being utterly shocked when she first learned that Abdourahmane Diouf was attributing a debt restructuring agreement to Ousmane Sonko.

Beyond addressing the policy debate, Khady Diène Gaye launched a direct attack on the professional track record of her former colleague. She asserted that Abdourahmane Diouf has faced consecutive setbacks in his career, mentioning his unsuccessful attempt to pass the bar examination between 2007 and 2008 in his efforts to re-establish himself in the country.
She further criticized his political motivations, accusing him of engaging in politics for personal gain rather than serving the public interest. Despite the heated exchange, Khady Diène Gaye concluded her remarks by calling on all supporters and patriots to stay united and focused on the Pastef political vision to build a sovereign, prosperous, and fair Sénégal.
